This hands-on session will ensure you have the core skills required in the use of Media Composer and the knowledge of workflow of a scripted programme and the ability to carry out day to day task that would be a requirement as an edit assistant. You’ll run through the processes from beginning to end in the key tasks amen on a daily basis using professional equipment.
This programme will be delivered by Gorilla Academy and is supported by the ScreenSkills High-end TV Skills Fund with contributions from UK high-end TV productions.
They training programme is for machine room operators or new entrants into post production who want a guide to skills required to be an edit assistant. It is also useful for current edit assistants who want to reinforce their current skills or assistants moving from an unscripted workflow into a scripted project.
On this course you will cover all the essential skills required for an edit assistant in a scripted programme. It will allow you to enhance your skills for this position and run through common tasks and jobs required as well as look at any common issues and work arounds so you can hit the ground running.
Once compete you will feel confident with the skills required to assist and edit/editor as well as confidence in handling shared resources across a project.

Lucy Harris has worked on some of the largest productions o come out of Wales in the last few years including Dr Who, The Way, GenZ and is currently working as the Edit Assistant on Dope Girls.
Over the years Lucy has worked in both scripted and unscripted programming but has primarily landed most of her recent work with scripted and we’re so glad she could be involved in this programme as our principle trainer.
