Screenskills – Cutting Content in the Digital Age – GLASGOW

November 28 @ 8:00 am - December 6 @ 5:00 pm

Free

ScreenSkills funded

Today’s productions don’t stop when the programme is delivered. Editorial teams are increasingly expected to create attention-grabbing social clips, digital-first edits, podcasts, vodcasts and platform-specific versions. This practical programme will help you turn broadcast footage into compelling content for new audiences, develop hands-on Adobe Premiere Pro skills and build the versatile editorial toolkit needed to stay competitive in a rapidly changing industry.

Combining a focused online introduction with an intensive two-day workshop, you’ll work with genuine footage from a UK unscripted television production. Guided by experienced industry trainers, you’ll explore how strong storytelling can move successfully between television, social media, podcasts, vodcasts and other digital platforms.

Full details are available on the ScreenSkills website. Follow the link below to find out more and apply.

The programme begins with an online session exploring changing audience behaviour and why productions are increasingly expected to create content for multiple platforms. During the two-day practical workshop, you will cover:

  • An introduction to Adobe Premiere Pro

  • Editing short-form and digital-first content

  • Creating engaging social and promotional clips

  • Repurposing long-form television content for new audiences

  • Adapting storytelling, structure and pacing for different platforms

  • Editing for video, podcasts and vodcasts

  • Working with different aspect ratios and delivery formats

  • Platform specifications, export requirements and technical deliverables

  • Transcription, captioning, versioning and content adaptation

  • Relevant AI-supported tools and workflow efficiencies

  • Practical editorial decision-making using genuine broadcast footage

The emphasis throughout will remain on strong storytelling, creative judgement and practical workflows that can be applied immediately in the workplace.

  • Create engaging digital-first, promotional and social media content from broadcast footage

  • Edit confidently using Adobe Premiere Pro

  • Adapt television content for different platforms, formats and audiences

  • Apply effective storytelling and pacing to short-form content

  • Understand common delivery formats, platform specifications and export workflows

  • Develop content for video, social media, podcasts and vodcasts

  • Use transcription, captioning and versioning tools effectively

  • Identify where AI-supported tools can improve workflows without replacing editorial judgement

  • Apply current industry workflows to real-world production scenarios

Most importantly, you’ll leave with a broader understanding of how editorial teams work today and a more versatile set of skills for creating content across television, streaming and digital platforms.
